ELIH plans busy holiday season with fundraisers and community outreach

Eastern Long Island Hospital has planned a busy late fall and early winter season of fundraisers and community outreach events says Eileen Solomon, Director of Community Relations. From straightforward donations to vendor sales, to a gala event, ELIH hopes the community will turn out and support the hospital.

Here’s a listing of the events that are planned:

Nov. 29, 2016 – “’Giving Tuesday’ Shop for a Cause”Visit participating stores in Mattituck Plaza on the Main Road and a percentage of your purchases will benefit the Behavioral Health Programs at Eastern Long Island Hospital. Proceeds go to Quannacut Addiction Services for inpatient, outpatient, sober housing and well as psychiatric services. Fight addiction, fight depression, give hope.

Dec. 3, 2016 – “Denim & Dice in December”A festive evening to “roll in” the holiday season, hosted by all three branches of the ELIH Auxiliary, TWIGS, Southold West and East End/Shelter Island. Enjoy casino games, Texas Hold’em, a DJ, a dinner buffet by Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs and fabulous prizes from 7 to 11 p.m. at Peconic Bay Yacht Club in Southold.

Dec. 6, 2016 – ELIH Auxiliary Sale, “Avon Boutique” Shop for the holidays and benefit your community hospital. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the  ELIH Conf. Room. Call (631) 477-5196 for more information.

Dec. 9, 2016 – ELIH Auxiliary will hold its “Simply Beautiful” sale.  Shop for fun fashion accessories and benefit your community hospital, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the  ELIH Conference room. Call (631) 477-5196 for more information

Community Outreach

 Caregiver Support Group – A support group for caregivers, who care for the chronically ill or elderly meets the third Tuesday of each month from 1:30 to  2:30 p.m. The group is sponsored by Southold Town Senior Services, 750 Pacific St, Mattituck. For more information, call(631) 298-4460.

December 5, 2016 – “What will the Affiliation Between ELIH and Stony Brook University Hospital Mean to You?” Open Forum with Paul J. Connor, III, President/CEO, Eastern Long Island Hospital, 3 pm, Peconic Landing Community Center, 1500 Brecknock Road, Greenport, Public Welcome. Come and get the latest update on the Stony Brook University Hospital collaboration. To RSVP, call 631.477.5164.

Dec. 12, 2016 – “On The Radio” with WLNG, 92.1 FM, will feature Roberto Bergamaschi, MD, Ph.D., world-renowned colorectal surgeon and newest member of the ELIH Medical Staff. The hour- long program, entitled, “Frequently Asked Questions About Colorectal Care” will give listeners an opportunity to call in between 1 and 2 p.m. Hosted by Dan Duprey of WLNG with Frank J. Adipietro, MD, Medical Staff President, Eastern Long Island Hospital. Call in at(631) 725 2300.

Jan. 26, 2017“Balance, Exercise & Aging” with Phyllis Rubin, MA, Personal Trainer/Medical Exercise Specialist, 11 a.m. to noon, sponsored by Southold Town Senior Services, 750 Pacific St., Mattituck.
