Wildcats squeak past Tuckers, 40-38

Shoreham-Wading River defeated Mattituck 40-38, on a basket with 4.9 seconds left in the game.

Mattituck trailed for most of the game, but a 4th-quarter surge saw them tie it up twice, once at 35 apiece, and then again on a free throw at 38.

Shoreham inbounded the ball as Chris Sheehan grabbed a pass at mid-court, and drove the paint for two with 4.9 seconds left to make it 40-38 Shoreham.

Mattituck drove down into the Shoreham end with 1.1 seconds on the clock. Brendan Kent  threw up a 3-point shot that hit the rim and bounced.

Mattituck boys next take the court tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. against Greenport.
