It was Silent Night at Bishop McGann-Mercy High School Thursday evening, as the McGann-Mercy faithful, most dressed in costume, would not utter a single cheer until their team scored 10 points.
They started to crack at 9 points and once Mercy broke the 10 point barrier it was non-stop the rest of the night.
McGann-Mercy (3-3, 3-4) dominated Southold/Greenport (0-4, 2-4) throughout the game, leading by as much as 20 at one point and finishing it off with a 56-37 victory.
The Clippers did their best to try and come back in the second half but the Monarchs held firm, with good shooting, good passing, and players crashing the boards and driving the hoop for points.
McGann-Mercy’s next home game is January 10, when the Monarchs host Smithtown Christian. Southold/Greenport hosts Babylon January 3. Both games start at 6:15 p.m.
