A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. today, as a light snow falls across the East End.
Expect two to three inches of snow to accumulate this morning, according to a statement issued at 4 a.m. by the National Weather Service in Upton. Snow covered roadways will result in slippery travel this morning, the weather service said in the advisory.
But today’s snowfall may be just a prelude to a bigger snow event now in our forecast for Saturday.
A winter storm watch has been issued for eastern Long Island and southeast Connecticut Saturday, when four to seven inches of snow is expected to accumulate and make travel conditions hazardous. Visibility Saturday could be reduced to a half-mile or less.
The winter storm watch is in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday.
