Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, according to the Red Cross website. Your blood donation could save someone’s life.
“From organ transplants to heart surgeries, today’s advanced medical care relies on blood transfusions. When one person donates a unit of blood, it can be separated into individual components to save multiple lives,” says the New York Blood Center.
Southold Fire Department will hold a blood drive on Jan. 25 from 2:15 to 8:15 p.m. As a way to say thank you, the fire department will treat anyone donating after 5 p.m. to the department’s famous spaghetti dinner and homemade pie.
