Mattituck fell to Port Jefferson 51-43 tonight at Port Jeff High School.

Port Jeff was ready and able when Liz Dwyer and the Tuckers rolled into town this afternoon. Mattituck tried to get going, but Port Jeff would have none of it as they steamrolled the Tuckers with solid defense down low, at some points triple-teaming Liz Dwyer, and with the rest of the girls struggling to find their shooting game, it was not to be. By the half, it was 21-14 Port Jeff, with Liz Dwyer scoring 11 of the14 first quarter points for Mattituck.

The second half was worse, as the Royals gained more momentum, stealing Mattituck passes, and scoring at will. Mattituck would only comeback in spurts, enough to make a game of it, But Port Jeff was too strong, and took the game 51-43.

Mattituck’s next home game is Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 6:15 p.m. against Center Moriches.
