If you happened to drive down Main Street in Southold Saturday night you couldn’t miss the delicious aroma of barbecue; the whole downtown smelled like a summer evening.

Southold Fire Department held its popular steak night and had the grills set up outside despite the chilly weather.

Over 400 pounds of meat — which translates to about 300 shell steaks —  was ready for the grill at 5 p.m., when people started arriving. Dinner included steak, potatoes, salad, vegetable, dessert and wine, beer or soda.
