The field of candidates for Greenport Village trustee has shrunk by one.

Mary Given told SoutholdLOCAL today she is no longer “actively pursuing a seat on the village board.”

Given said a change in her schedule and existing commitments render her “not able to serve effectively.”

She said she will not participate in tomorrow night’s debate.

SoutholdLOCAL and The Suffolk Times are co-hosting a candidates debate tomorrow at Floyd Memorial Library, beginning at 7 p.m.

Incumbent trustees Mary Bess Phillips and Julia Robins, both seeking re-election, and challenger Paul Krieling will answer questions posed by editors from the two news organizations. Suggested questions may be submitted by email but will not be taken from the audience during the debate.

The village election takes place March 21.
