Cops: Intoxicated driver swerved into oncoming lane, forcing police officer off the roadway

A 25-year-old Mattituck woman was charged with driving while intoxicated early this morning she swerved into the oncoming lane of travel and forced a police officer’s vehicle off the roadway, Southold Town Police said in a press release.

Police said Rebekah Desimone was eastbound on Route 25 in Cutchogue at about 2:50 a.m. when she “swerved severely into the westbound lane,” forcing a Southold Town police officer off the roadway, according to the police report.

Desimone was stopped and found to be intoxicated, police said. She was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing, according to the report.
