Rebekah Desimone, 25, of Mattituck was charged with driving while intoxicated on March 14 when she swerved into the oncoming lane of travel and forced a police officer’s vehicle off the roadway, Southold Town Police reported. Desimone was stopped and found to be intoxicated, police said. She was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing, according to the report.

On March 15 a Southold Town police officer on patrol in Greenport noticed a flower box valued at $50 had been knocked over and damaged on Front Street. It was not determined whether the box was damaged accidentally or intentionally. The investigation continues.

A Peconic man called police to report that several small trees had been cut down near the beach access at the end of Robinson Lane in Peconic. He asked that the incident be documented and requested extra police patrols in the area.

Employees at Community Action Southold Town in Greenport called police when an unknown male subject attempted to enter a woman’s vehicle in front of the CAST office. The man, described as a white male wearing a black jacket, picked up the woman’s handbag and started the car using the remote control start on her keychain. The woman told the suspect that the bag was hers; he returned it and left the area. Police canvassed the area but found no one matching the suspect’s description.

Someone threw a cinderblock through the front door of Brauns Seafood on Main Road in Cutchogue on March 16. Police responded and are investigating.

Jose Santos of Greenport was arrested on March 20 and charged with driving while intoxicated, police reported. After police pulled Santos over on Moores Lane in Greenport for a traffic violation, they observed that he was intoxicated, arrested him and transported him to police headquarters for processing, police said.
