Peconic Bay Medical Center has a vice president for clinical transformation.
It’s a newly created position that Peconic Bay has tapped the former president of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital to fill.
Somerville lives on Long Island and prior to joining the Mount Sinai Health System in 2014 was executive director of Northwell Health’s North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset,
Somerville, an R.N., will oversee the implementation of advanced clinical services at PBMC, beginning with the construction and development of the $60 million PBMC critical care tower, Peconic Bay Medical Center said in a statement. The tower will house the Kanas Regional Heart Center, a cardiac care facility that will include cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology suites.
“We are pleased and excited to have someone of Ms. Somerville’s stature join us as the medical center rapidly evolves into a regional hospital,” PBMC president and CEO Andrew Mitchell said.
“Susan Somerville is a fantastic addition to the eastern region team for Northwell Health,” said Kevin Beiner, Northwell senior vice president and executive director of the system’s eastern region, which includes Southside, Huntington, Glen Cove, Plainview, Syosset and South Oaks hospitals, as well as Peconic Bay Medical Center. “We are thrilled to have her back at Northwell to help shape and guide the next era of health care for the East End of Long Island,” Beiner said.
Since Peconic Bay joined Northwell, it has added a number of new members to its top leadership team, including a new medical director, Jean Cacciabaudo, MD, a new chief of interventional cardiology, Stanley Katz, MD, a new director of neurosurgery, Robert M. Galler, DO, and a new chief of radiology Thomas F. Mannino, MD.
Northwell Health is the state’s largest health care provider and private employer, with 21 hospitals, more than 550 outpatient facilities and 61,000 employees. It operates the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine and the School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies at Hofstra University.
