Cutchogue FD responds to grass fire on road median

The Cutchogue Fire Department and the Southold Town Police Department responded to a small grass fire on the median of Route 48, just east of Alvah’s Lane in Cutchogue at around 1:30 this afternoon.

According to First Assistant Chief William Burns, the fire was extinguished quickly and the road was not closed off. He said that the fire could have been caused by a number of things, including someone tossing a cigarette out a car window.
