Eastern Long Island Hospital is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its annual Golf Classic on June 14 at the Gardiner’s Bay Country Club on Shelter Island, raising essential funds for the hospital’s emergency department.

This year’s gala honors Patricia and Donald Brennan of Cutchogue, two long-time supporters of the hospital. Patricia Brennan, a retired nurse, has been on the event committee for several years and the couple hosted the very first gala in 1999.

“I feel blessed to have such a wonderful community hospital staffed by dedicated professionals available to me and my family,” said Patricia. “ELIH has been a lifesaver for Donald and I as well as many of our children and grandchildren.”

This year’s classic will be played in a “shamble” format, which is designed to move the game along. A team of golfers selects the one best drive among them after teeing off, then all four play their own golf balls from that position into the hole.

Gardiner’s Bay Country Club is a par 70 private golf course with scenic water views located on Shelter Island. Highlights of the event include a full day of golf with tournament prizes, breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner.

Sponsorship opportunities offer signage on the course, media recognition, pre and post-event advertising and cocktail reception tickets. Bridgehampton National Bank is the title sponsor of the event.
