Changes to the Southold Town Code pertaining to the definition of “bluffs,” the prosecution of dog complaints and the processing of garbage carter licenses were unanimously adopted by the Southold Town Board last night after public hearings that drew no comment.
Amendments to the wetlands and shorelines chapter and the zoning chapter of the code clarify the definitions of the terms “bluff” — to correct a situation created by a previous code revision that made the terms “bluff” and “bank” interchangeable. See prior story.
The board also amended the chapter of town code pertaining to animals to conform it to state law regarding who can file and prosecute a complaint about dogs.
The third local law transferred responsibility from the town clerk to the town solid waste department for processing garbage carter licenses.
A fourth public hearing, which also drew no comment, was on the topic of erecting stop signs on Schoolhouse Road at the intersections with Depot Lane and Griffing Street and on Griffing Street at the intersection with Schoolhouse Road. The board did not adopt a local law following the hearing to authorize the new signs.
