It was the Dylan Clausen show today in Southold in the opener of a three-game playoff series against Pierson.

Clausen took to the mound, read the script and proceeded to throw a gem for Southold. The senior southpaw allowed just three hits and struck out 10 on his way to a complete game shutout, 7-0. Clausen threw heat the whole game, mixing in a few curves and left several Pierson batters frozen in the box on the strike call.

Southold was also solid at the plate, where Adam Baldwin, Luke Hansen, Matthew Cardi and Clausen himself delivered. Southold also capitalized on the bases by taking advantage of a few Pierson errors.

The Settlers look to finish off Pierson in the best of three series tomorrow, location to be determined tomorrow morning by Section XI.
