Police: Greenport man arrested for driving with revoked license, resisting arrest

A Greenport man was arrested for driving with a revoked license and resisting arrest early this morning, Southold Town Police said.

Stanley Lawrence, 49, was pulled over on Third Street in Greenport for failing to stop at a stop sign, police said, and a DMV check showed that his privilege to drive had been revoked. While police attempted to arrest Lawrence, he tried to flee and refused to comply with verbal commands, police said.

He was arrested and taken to police headquarters to await arraignment, police said.
