Mattituck defeated Center Moriches six to one today, clinching the Suffolk County Class B Championship title.
Mattituck hit the field with a hunger for the win. Bryce Grathwohl was on the hill for Mattituck, and he was ready. A solid effort, he mixed his pitches and sometimes had the Red Devils batters swinging at air. By the third inning, the Tuckers were able to strike back on the nifty hitting of Matt Heffernan, who had a solid day at the plate.
It stayed 2-1 until the fourth inning, when the Tuckers added another run, making it 3-1 after five innings. By then, the Red Devils seemed to be out of gas. The Tuckers put the finishing nails in the coffin in the bottom of the sixth inning, running the score to 6-1.
The Tuckers made quick work of the Red Devils in the seventh inning, holding on to win the game and the Class B Championship.
