Photos: Project Fit America kick-off at Cutchogue East

Project Fit America kicked off at Cutchogue East Elementary School this morning with presentations, demonstrations and a visit from the Long Island Ducks’ mascot, Quacker Jack. Mattituck High School NJROTC Color Guard also attended.

Project Fit America i a national non-profit that provides schools with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, curriculum and guidance needed to reduce the onset of childhood obesity and diabetes.

Several local organizations donated a combined $75,000 to assist with establishing specialized fitness equipment and curricula at Greenport and Cutchogue East Elementary schools as well as the Riverhead Charter School. Through a partnership with Peconic Bay Medical Center, GYMGUYZ East End, the Mattituck Lions Club, Kait’s Angels and JABS helped bring Project Fit America to the schools.

Students demonstrated their skills with rope climbing, hula hooping, an obstacle course and a tennis ball challenge.
