Former Greenport school superintendent charged with felony DWI

Former Greenport schools superintendent Charles E. Kozora, 69, of Placida, Florida was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge in Greenport last night, Southold Town Police said in a press release.

Kozora was stopped at First and Front streets for failing to signal a right turn at about 8:25 p.m. and the police officer determined that he was intoxicated, according to the report.

Kozora, who has a prior DWI conviction, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, police said. He was processed at police headquarters and held for arraignment.

Police said Kozora’s car was impounded because of the prior DWI conviction.

Kozora retired from the Greenport school district in 2009.
