When signs start popping up on the North Fork advertising strawberries for sale, it’s a sure sign that the Strawberry Festival is coming up.

Held rain or shine every Father’s Day weekend, the festival kicks off with hulling night, a treasured tradition that generations of locals have enjoyed for over six decades. The festival continues throughout the weekend and includes carnival rides, games, live music and the crowning of the Strawberry Queen. There will also be food trucks located throughout the venue and under the big tent you can purchase strawberry shortcake, chocolate-dipped strawberries and strawberry smoothies.

The festival is the Mattituck Lions Club’s main fundraiser and proceeds are used throughout the year to support dozens of local charitable organizations
