The tent at Strawberry Fields in Mattituck began filling up just at 5 p.m. this afternoon as hundreds of volunteers gathered for the annual strawberry hulling night.

Mattituck Lions and Leos were on hand to keep the flow of strawberries going from boxes to tables to buckets to the washing sinks. There were smiles all around as neighbors and friends met for the treasured annual tradition here on the North Fork.

The festival begins Friday evening, then continues throughout the weekend.
