Help CAST ‘Feed-A-Kid’ this summer

Once again this summer, CAST is looking for donations to help support its summer Feed-A-Kid program. CAST expects to provide more families in Southold Town with weekly foods bags than in past years.

As summer nears, CAST faces the prospect of children in Southold going hungry. That is why CAST developed the “Feed-A-Kid” program. School-aged children from struggling families in our community receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch at school throughout the school year. During the eight weeks of summer, CAST provides breakfast and lunch groceries to children on school vacation. That means that 80 percent of CAST’s nutrition support for children enrolled in the schools’ free meal programs is delivered over the summer.

Each year, the number of families CAST helps goes up. Two years ago, 40 families were provided with breakfast and lunch. Last year, it was 50 families. This year CAST anticipates another increase in the number of families they feed. The Feed-A-Kid program depends on support from caring neighbors in Southold.

CAST appreciates friends and neighbors donating what they can.
