The Greenport Farmers Market returns for its seventh season this weekend with a picnic, live music and activities for children.
Located on South and Second Streets in the village, the market offers fresh vegetables, flowers, dairy, wool products, wine, eggs and more. It is the only open air market selling fresh produce in Greenport Village since Latham’s Farmstand made the decision not to reopen this year.
The Greenport Farmers Market was formed with the goal of promoting and supporting sustainable agriculture and aquaculture and educating the community about the benefits of eating fresh foods. It supports regional sustainable producers by providing them direct access to consumers.
Returning vendors this year include Catapano Farms, Suhru Wines, Surrey Lane Farm Vineyard Orchard Farm and Greenport Jerky Company.
Newcomers to the market this year include NoFo Crunch and Simply Nicki Nut Butters.
The market will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning June 24 until September 16. Shoppers are encouraged to bring cash and reusable shopping bags.
