Excerpts from the Southold Town Police Press Reports, June 18, 2017

A Southold man phoned police on June 11 to report that people were cursing at him. Police interviewed several subjects who all said they hadn’t witnessed the incident. Police determined that the caller was intoxicated and escorted him to his residence.

An East Marion woman called police on June 12 to report that when she arrived home she found a broken window, her television set missing and a man asleep in her bed. The suspect, an undomiciled Greenport man, was arrested, transported to headquarters, processed and held for arraignment. The woman’s television set was located in the bushes outside her house.

On June 12, a Mattituck man reported that his car was missing from his garage. Police canvassed the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle, but were unsuccessful. The victim’s aide said that the man had taken the car out in the past and forgotten where he’d left it. Detectives are continuing the investigation.

On June 12 police received a report of a group of 40 to 50 youths gathered at Bailie Beach in Mattituck. Police responded and spoke with one of the youths, advising him that they had to pick up any garbage and leave the area.

On June 14 a Cutchogue man reported that an ornamental antique well worth $125 was stolen from his yard on an unknown date.

Police received a call from the Southold Department of Public Works on June 16 reporting that there was graffiti on the Goose Creek Bridge in Southold. Police spoke to youths in the area who stated that they didn’t know who was responsible for the graffiti but agreed to assist the DPW in removing it.

On June 16 police arrested Maryellen Campbell, 49, of Greenport for aggravated driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Skunk Lane in Cutchogue. She was held overnight for arraignment.

At the Strawberry Festival in Mattituck on June 16 police found a Southold man to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana and several glass pipes. The suspect admitted the items belonged to him and was issued an appearance ticket.

On June 17  police arrested Sebastian Ferrer, 27, of Mastic on charges of driving while intoxicated/drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said Ferrer was operating a 2007 Chevrolet eastbound on Route 25 and rear-ended another vehicle. A further investigation revealed Ferrer was impaired by drugs, police said. He was found to be in possession of one sublingual suboxone strip, according to the police report. He was arrested at the scene.

An East Marion man phoned police on June 17 to report that someone damaged his mailbox, valued at $75.

On June 18, Eastern Long Island Hospital security alerted police to a female subject wandering around the rear parking lot. Police found an intoxicated Greenport woman at the location and when interviewed she said she was “walking it off” and left the area.

On June 18, a New Jersey man and his friend missed the Hampton Jitney bus in Greenport and were given a ride by another Jitney to the Feather Hill stop in order to meet the bus they’d just missed. Upon arriving at the Southold stop, a verbal exchange between the man and the Hampton Jitney bus driver broke out. During the exchange the driver advised the man and his friend that they would not be allowed on the bus. At some point the man tried to board the bus at which time the driver forcibly prevented him from doing so. The bus driver allegedly grabbed the man by the neck and forced him to the ground. Witnesses stated that the New Jersey man appeared to be the aggressor in the incident, trying to force his way onto the bus. The suspects decided to take the next westbound bus. An investigation will continue.
