Southold police report two DWI arrests Friday night

Southold Town Police report two DWI arrests last night.

Police said an 18-year-old Centereach man was charged with DWI after a traffic stop on Main Road last night at 10:11 p.m.

Brandon R. Ruszkowski was observed operating a 2004 Jeep with a defective brake light, police said. He was stopped and found to be intoxicated according to the report. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing. Ruszkowski was held for arraignment.

A 22-year-old Greenport man was arrested on DWI and unlicensed operation charges after he was observed driving a 2014 Honda without headlights on Route 25 in Greenport last night at 10:55 p.m., according to Southold Town Police.

Police said Sterling Smiley was stopped when he was eastbound on Route 25 without his vehicle headlights on. Police said Smiley failed roadside sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle without headlights after dark.

Smiey was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing, where he was held for arraignment.
