Nelson E. Dussault, 92

Nelson E. Dussault of Calverton died June 26, 2017. He was 92 years old.

He was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on December 9, 1924.

After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La in the Pacific theater beginning in 1942. He served again during the Korean War on the USS Boxer.

He married Jean A. Johnson in 1950. Together they raised their family of four daughters in Bridgehampton.

After leaving the Navy, he became a milkman. He later became general manager of Gilmartin Dairy in Southampton. He retired in 1987 after serving as the sales account manager at Elmhurst Dairy where he was in charge of more than 60 Long Island and New York City A&P grocery store accounts.

In his spare time, he enjoyed skiing, playing poker, woodwork, reading, dancing and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a past president of the Bridgehampton Lions Club. He taught a public speaking class for Dale Carnegie in Riverhead’s adult education program.

Predeceased by his wife Jean in 2017 and his daughter Susan in 1979, he is survived by his daughters Lynn C. McCarthy of Scarsdale, New York, Karen of Hampton Bays and Nancy Giordano (Philip) of New York City and three grandchildren, Dana, Jamie and Lisa.

The family will receive visitors on June 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
