The walls of Eastern Long Island Hospital will be brightened with two new works donated by local artist Laura Westlake-DiLorenzo of Orient.

The colored pencil drawings are titled Remembrance and Rites of Spring. Westlake needs to work slowly and carefully with that medium since colored pencil cannot be completely erased. According to a press release issued by the hospital, each of the artist’s work can take up to 100 hours to complete.

The work of many local artists hangs in the hospital. “Eastern Long Island Hospital appreciates donations of all kinds, and we are especially grateful to Laura for sharing her special gift with us,” said Thomas E. Murray, Jr. Chairman of the Board and fellow Orient resident.
