Cops make social host law arrest at house party in Cutchogue

A Cutchogue man was arrested on a charge of violating the county’s social host law last night, Southold Town Police said in a press release.

Police said they received a call reporting a large party at 395 Track Avenue in Cutchogue last night at about 10:45 p.m. Responding officers found a large number of underage youth drinking alcoholic beverages at the party, according to the police report.

John T. Kinsey, 20, was arrested for violating the county’s social host law, which prohibits any person over the age of 18 to knowingly allow the consumption of alcohol or alcoholic beverages by any minor at his residence.

Kinsey was also found to be in possession of marijuana, police said.

The party was dispersed, police said.

A violation of the Suffolk County social host law is an unclassified misdemeanor.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
