Fourth of July Guide 2017: Parades, fireworks, carnivals on the North Fork

Parades

8th Annual Heritage Day
When: July 3 at 12 p.m.
Where: Village Lane, Orient 
Parade begins at the Civil War monument on Village Lane followed by the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence on the steps of the Old Point Schoolhouse and a picnic in Poquatuck Park.

New Suffolk Fourth of July Parade
When: July 4 at 11 a.m.
Where: Begins at intersection of New Suffolk and Tuthill Roads
A ceremony will follow at New Suffolk Beach with a reading of the Declaration of Independence, followed by a community barbecue.

Southold Fourth of July Parade
When: July 4 at 12 p.m.
Where: Main Road from Boisseau Avenue to Tuckers Lane, Southold

Carnivals

Greenport Fire Department Carnival, July 4 – July 8
Where: Polo Grounds on Moores Lane, Greenport
Carnival with rides, games and food Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks Tuesday, July 4 (rain date July 5) and Saturday, July 8 at 10 p.m.
Jamesport Fire Department Carnival, Saturday, July 22
Where: Jamesport Community Center, South Jamesport Avenue, Jamesport
Fireworks: Saturday, July 22
Carnival from Wednesday, July 19 to Saturday, July 22. Includes rides for all ages, food, beer and a dunking booth. Parade Wednesday July 19 at 7 p.m.

Fireworks

Riverhead Raceway, July 1
Where: Riverhead Raceway, Route 58, Riverhead
Fireworks: Saturday, July 1 at 9 p.m.
Races will include an eight-cylinder demolition derby, a big wheels race and 67-lap NASCAR modifieds.

Orient Independence Day Celebration Fireworks, July 2
Where: Orient Harbor, Orient
Fireworks: Sunday, July 2 at 9:15 p.m.
Grucci fireworks scheduled at the Orient Harbor.

Riverhead BID Independence Day Celebration, July 3
Where: Peconic riverfront downtown parking lot, Riverhead
Fireworks: Monday, July 3 at nightfall.
Event begins at 6 p.m. with performances by Misspent Youth and Brady Rymer. There will also be food, jugglers, face painters and stilt walkers. Bring your own lawn chairs for the fireworks.

Greenport Fire Department Carnival, July 4 & July 8
Where: Polo Grounds on Moores Lane, Greenport
Fireworks: Tuesday, July 4 (rain date July 5) and Saturday, July 8 at 10 p.m.
Carnival with rides, games and food Tuesday through Saturday starting at 6 p.m.

Shelter Island Fireworks, July 8
Where: Crescent Beach, Shelter Island
Fireworks: Saturday, July 8 at 9 p.m. (rain date July 9)
Grucci fireworks show at Crescent Beach will start at 9 p.m. Pre-party with live music at the Shipwreck from 6 to 11 p.m. and after-part from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Tavern.

Jamesport Fire Department Carnival, Saturday, July 22
Where: Jamesport Community Center, South Jamesport Avenue, Jamesport
Fireworks: Saturday, July 22
Carnival from Wednesday, July 19 to Saturday, July 22. Includes rides for all ages, food, beer and a dunking booth. Parade Wednesday July 19 at 7 p.m.
