The Oysterponds Historial Society held its 8th annual Heritage Day in Orient today.
Dozens of children rode decorated bicycles down Village Lane in a parade that included vintage cars, tractors and representatives from local service organizations.
Following the parade and the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence on the steps of the Old Point Schoolhouse, a picnic was held in Poquatuck Park.
