Cops: 65-year-old Greenport man who defaced parking lot markings in village arrested on criminal tampering charge

A Greenport man was arrested on a charge of criminal tampering yesterday for pouring paint over markings in a Greenport parking lot, according to Southold Town Police.

Police said they used surveillance video footage to identify the suspect, Robert Lehmann, 65.

An officer on patrol yesterday observed gray paint poured over parking lot markings in the lot outside Claudio’s at 111 Main Street in Greenport. Police did not specify the nature of the parking lot markings in the press release.

After reviewing surveillance video, police identified Lehmann, located him early this morning and placed him under arrest on a charge of criminal tampering, a misdemeanor.

Lehman was transported to Southold Town Police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.
