Cops: Former local bank employee stole more than $35,000 from customer’s account, charged with grand larceny

A former local bank employee has been charged with grand larceny in the theft of more than $35,000 from a customer’s account several years ago, according to Southold Town Police.

Sara L. Hando, 28, of Los Angeles, California was employed at a bank in the Town of Southold when the theft took place in 2012 and 2013, Southold Town Police said in a press release, which did not identify the bank or its location.

Hando was arrested at her home in Los Angeles following her indictment by a Suffolk County grand jury and returned to Suffolk County by the Suffolk County Police fugitive squad, according to the release. She was turned over to Southold Town Police yesterday for processing and held for arraignment, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
