Shelby Dufton, 15, of Cutchogue has been invited to perform at Duck Walk Vineyard North’s “Opera and Broadway of the Hamptons” hosted by award-winning singer Cristina Fontanelli on July 15.

Shelby will be singing “On My Own” from “Les Miserables.” Also performing will be Metropolitan Opera tenor Raul Melo and baritone Michael Corvino.

A friend of host Fontanelli heard Shelby sing at a North Fork Chorale concert and sent a video, which led to the invitation for the Duck Walk event.

“I’ve not done anything like this before,” said Shelby. “It’s really great that just by singing in a local area you can get opportunities like this.”

Shelby is no stranger to performing. She’s been in numerous Mattituck High School theater productions and was nominated for a Teeny Award for her work as Chava in “Fiddler on the Roof” last year. In 2014 at the age of 12, she was a finalist to sing the National Anthem at Citi Field for the New York Mets’ opening day. In March she sang the National Anthem at the Harlem Wizards basketball game in Mattituck.
