Donald Irving Scholtz, 64

Donald Irving Scholtz of Laurel died July 6, 2017 after a short illness. He was 64 years old.

Born on March 25, 1953, he was the son of Irving J. and is Eleanor (Bulak) Scholtz of Riverhead.

A graduate of Southampton College, where he studied accounting, he was a manager at Mattituck Inlet and Marina where he worked for over 40 years. He proudly maintained the Scholtz family home of four generations. He was very active in his children’s lives, including the Boy Scouts, soccer, family vacations, hiking, and camping. His hobbies were astronomy, building model rockets, airplanes and trains.

Predeceased by his father, he is survived by his mother, his sister Diane Collins of Aquebogue, his life partner Beverly Wowak, his children, Corinne and James Barkan of Fort Lauderdale, James Scholtz of Manhattan, Christopher (Heather) of Mattituck and Joshua of Jamesport and by his granddaughters Victoria and Nora Scholtz of Mattituck. He is also survived by Amy Wowak and Cary Kung of Brooklyn, Valerie and Kevin Pettit and grandson Blake of Wading River, and Jillian Wowak of Manhattan. Additionally, he is survived by his nieces Ruthann (Ray) Gagliana and Kerin (Brian) Voytek.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, July 9 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home, 406 East Main St. Riverhead. Funeral Service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m.
