The same Second Street home was the scene of violence last summer. Southold police responded to that house on Aug. 12, 2016 where they found a man outside the residence and a woman inside bleeding from slash wounds, victims of an attack with a machete. A week later, police arrested Esvin Rolando Escobar, 26, in Central Falls, Rhode Island and charged him in the attack.

DeLeon-Tito was processed and will be held overnight at Southold Town Police headquarters for arraigned Wednesday in Southold Town Court, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
