Southold Police: Man drove drunk, woman with suspended license caught texting while driving

Southold Town Police this morning report two arrests for vehicle and traffic law violations.

Angel Torres, 54, of Bellport, was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after a police officer observed him failing to maintain his lane of travel on County Route 48 in Southold Tuesday night, according to a Southold Town Police press release.

Angela Randazzo, 27, of Middle Island, was arrested for driving with a suspended license, texting while driving and driving with no hands on the wheel yesterday morning on Route 25 in Cutchogue, police said. After receiving a report of a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 25, responding officers saw Randazzo holding a cell phone with both hands with the forearms against the steering wheel driving westbound, according to a police report.

Randazzo was arrested and later released on $100 cash bail. Torres was held for arraignment, police said.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
