Peconic Landing is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a bang. The retirement community will host its annual End of Summer Celebration with a performance by the Atlantic Wind Symphony and fireworks show – free to all – on Labor Day weekend.

The annual event started five years ago and attracts more than 500 guests each year.

“There is much to celebrate as we reflect on 15 years of community growth and innovation,” Peconic Landing president and CEO Robert Syron said. “For those of us that live or work at Peconic Landing, this community has come to mean so much. We invite all of our neighbors to help us celebrate the occasion with an incredible fireworks show.”

The End of Summer Celebration will take place on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. The performance by the 40-member Atlantic Wind Symphony, comprising musicians from across Long Island, will take place on the patio at Brecknock Hall. The concert will feature popular songs by George Gershwin, John Philip Sousa as well as well-known Broadway hits. It will also include a salute to veterans and current service members. This year it will also recognize police and volunteer fire officials.

The performance is sponsored by the Brecknock Hall Foundation, which has a mission of maintaining the beautification and preservation of the historic mansion.

Fireworks will take off about 8:15, launched over Peconic Landing’s community pond. Guests are asked to bring a blanket and chairs to make the most of the event. The 20-minute fireworks show is sponsored by Peconic Landing.

A rain date is scheduled for Monday, September 4 at 7 p.m.

Peconic Landing is located at 1500 Brecknock Road in Greenport. For more information, visit www.peconiclanding.org.
