Alfred E. Bouffard, 89

Alfred E. Bouffard of Mattituck died Aug. 13, 2017 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 89 years old.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut on Jan. 2, 1928, he was the son of Alfred and Amelia Bouffard.

He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946. He married Claire Poulin on Aug. 29, 1948. He was the owner of Briden Machine in Mattituck,

He was a fan of steam locomotives and was a longtime member of Long Island Live Steamers. He was a private pilot and loved to build things.

In addition to his wife of nearly 70 years, he is survived by his children Brian (Frances) of Virginia, and Denise (David) Cheshire of Mattituck, by his grandchildren Adam, Kristen, Austin and Patrick and by three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Coster Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A funeral service with military honors will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. Cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to Peconic Bay Medical Center, American’s Parkinson’s Disease Center or Eastern Long Island Hospital.
