The Harborfront Inn on Front Street has been put on the market by owners Michael and Constantine Kontokosta, who say a sale would allow them to “focus on our growing winery.”

The Greenport hotel has been listed for sale since May 2017 on commercial real estate website LoopNet. The Cove Place Inn in Aquebogue, another property of the Kontokostas, has also been listed for sale there since May.

The Kontokosta brothers opened the Harborfront Inn in 2004. Since then, the serial entrepreneurs purchased the Aquebogue hotel Dreamer’s Cove and reopened it as the Cove Place Inn in 2012. A year later, they opened their waterfront vineyard, Kontokosta Winery.

Michael Kontokosta described their decision to list the properties for sale as a “test [of] the market.”

“Over the past fourteen seasons, we have received numerous significant unsolicited offers to purchase the Harborfront Inn,” he said in an email. “Although we never acted on those offers, Greenport’s current vibrant real estate market and the opportunity to focus on our growing winery down the street presents the perfect time to test the market and offer this rare and amazing asset for sale.”

The Cove Place Inn is listed for almost $3.5 million on LoopNet. The price of the Harborfront Inn is not disclosed.
