A 72-year-old man was rescued from Long Island Sound this morning after his boat overturned 500 yards off Pebble Beach in East Marion, police said.

Emmanuel Leodis of Greenport was found clinging to his aluminum boat by Eric Bulis, 46, also of Greenport, who happened to be fishing nearby. Bulis brought Leodis onto his boat until Southold Bay Constables arrived and transported him to the NYSDEC Oyster Ponds boat ramp where he was met by the East Marion Fire Department and Southold Town police.

Leodis was treated and released by first responders and his boat was towed back to shore by bay constables, police said.
