The delicious aroma of barbecue wafted through downtown Cutchogue all day today as the Cutchogue Fire Department held its 61st annual chicken barbecue at the firehouse.
Dozens of volunteers were on hand prepping, cooking, serving and clearing for the hundreds of guests attending the popular fundraising event.
This year, over 3,600 half chickens were cooked on enormous grills set up in the parking lot. As is the tradition, several groups of people held tailgating parties in the parking lot before proceeding to the tent where they enjoyed chicken, corn, tomato salad and ice cream.
