Peconic Bay Power Squadron offers seminar on trailering boats safely, Oct 14

The Peconic Bay Power Squadron is making it easy for local boaters to learn how to trailer a boat safely. A seminar called “Trailering Your Boat” will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 1 p.m. at West Marine in Riverhead.

According to a press release issued by the United States Power Squadron, “Trailering Your Boat” will teach boat owners how to safely trailer a boat to areas with fishing, weather, or camping facilities that are different from what you find at home.

Additionally, “Trailering Your Boat” explains how to select tow vehicles, hitches, and trailers. It also explains how to safely and securely trailer your boat, launch and retrieve it, and how to operate and maintain your trailering equipment. It teaches skills and tips needed to safely move boats by trailer as well as maintenance hints and boat ramp etiquette.

There is a $15 fee for the seminar. Students will have the option to purchase seminar materials and presentation notes for an additional nominal fee.
