Joyce M. Densieski, a former resident of Riverhead, died in Rochester, New York on August 18, 2017. She was 82 years old.
Born in Calverton on April 15, 1935 to Bertha and William Tyska Sr., she later attended Calverton Elementary School and was a graduate of Riverhead High School’s Class of 1952.
On February 6, 1955, she married Frank Densieski at St. Isidore’s R.C. Church and together they made their home in Riverhead for many years. From 2003 to 2015, they resided in Hiawassee, Georgia.
She had been a telephone operator with NYNEX for eighteen years and a member of the Community Christian Fellowship in Mattituck.
She is survived by her children Christopher J. Densieski of Rochester, New York, Diane M. Strickland of Roanoke, Texas and David M. Densieski of Manorville, her siblings Alice Zaweski (Kenneth) of Jamesport, Allen Tyska of Henderson, Nevada and William Tyska Jr. of Hanover, Pennsylvania, her five grandchildren, Benjamin J., Amanda L., Brittany T., Chelsea R. and Andrew D. Densieski, her nephews Mark and Steven Zaweski and her nieces Maria Johnson and Mary Ann Mercer.
The family received friends on Wednesday, August 23 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck where Rev. Dan Reiter of the Community Christian Fellowship conducted services. Interment was on Thursday, August 24 at Calverton National Cemetery.
