The North Fork Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Jernick Moving & Storage to collect supplies for Texas residents impacted by Hurricane Harvey and transport them down to a food bank in Corpus Christi. See prior story.
Volunteers spent the day at the drop-off in the Southold IGA parking lot sorting supplies and helping load the truck. Members of the NFCC, Jernick staff and local NJROTC students began collecting supplies this morning and continued throughout the day.
The Blue Duck Bakery and Wendy’s Deli had been collecting donations all week and dropped them off to be packed up.
NFCC board member Andy Binkowski was thrilled with all the donations and said that with Hurricane Irma victims now needing help, they may send some of the cash donations to help those impacted by that storm. No decision has been made yet, he said.
