Southold defeated Greenport 3-1 at Greenport High School.
It was a great end-to-end battle in the first half with both teams chipping away to gain inches on the field. Southold struck first on a Ryan Herrmann goal. Later in the first half, Greenport’s Jacob Kahn tied it at one on a 20-yard strike.
The start of the second half saw Southold take the ball on the whistle, Joe Silvestro lined up the shot, and scored on a 50-yard bloop over Greenport keeper David Jenkins’ head to make it 2-1. Later on in the half, Ryan Herrmann would seal the victory for Southold with his second goal of the game, to make it 3-1.
