Willie Childress Sr. of Medford, formerly of Riverhead, died Sept. 7, 2017 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. He was 89 years old.
He was born Jan. 13, 1928 in Cumberland, Virginia to William and Martha Childress.
He worked as a landscaper for Joseph Gergella St. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, walking and music. He loved his church.
Predeceased by his wife Mamie in 2007, he is survived by his children RosaLee Childress and Willie Jr. both of Medford and two grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 to 10 a.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Kevin McGuiness and Rev. Anthony Trezza will be held at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
