Cops: Man who swung tire iron during fight facing weapon, menacing charges

A Greenport man was arrested on weapon and menacing charges yesterday after a fight outside Mr. Roberts convenience store at 300 Front Street, according to Southold Town Police.

Henri Alvarez, 30, removed a tire iron from his vehicle and swung it at another person with whom he was involved in a fight just before 5 p.m., police said. He missed.

Alvarez was charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, according to the police report.

He was processed at police headquarters and released on bail, police said.
