A Westhampton Beach man was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with DWI, Southold Town Police said.
Frederick W. Kollhop, 52, was traveling east on Route 48 at 11:47 a.m. in Mattituck and attempted to turn left onto Wickham Avenue through a red left turn light. He collided with a vehicle that was traveling west on Route 48, police said.
Kollhopp was found to be intoxicated and was arrested at the scene for driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said. He was transported to Stony Brook Hospital via police helicopter and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
