(Updated 12:47 p.m.)  Last night’s storm knocked out power to more than 1,600 customers across the North Fork — and more than 20,000 customers in Suffolk County, according to PSEG-LI.

Sound Avenue is closed in both directions between Manor and Herrick lanes in Riverhead due to “numerous downed poles and downed wires,” Riverhead Town Police said this morning. The road will remain closed until further notice, police said.

PSEG estimates that 1,150 customers in Southold Town are without power this morning. About 500 customers in Riverhead Town and the immediate surrounding areas (Calverton, Flanders, Riverside and Northampton) are also without power.

The utility company is still assessing damages, investigating the causes of the outages and assigning crews to repair them.

A large tree fell across Main Road just east of Depot Lane in Cutchogue, blocking the road completely. According to New York State Department of Transportation workers at the site, the tree fell on live wires and can not be removed until PSEG turns off power to the area.

The storm packed winds of more than 25 mph and gusts of 45 mph and dumped more than 3 inches of rain on the East End, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory remains in effect today until 2 p.m. today.
