The Eastern Long Island Hospital Auxiliary was awarded the Healthcare Association of New York’s 2017 Auxiliary of the Year award on Oct. 26.

The award was established to recognize numerous ways auxiliaries help strengthen New York State’s healthcare system.

ELIH’s auxiliary made a contribution of $400,000 to the hospital in 2016 and has contributed a total of more than $3.7 million in the past ten years. Last year they were the recipient of the 2016 North Fork Chamber of Commerce Community Service Organization Award.

“The volunteerism, population outreach, and advocacy that New York State’s auxiliaries provide are tremendous assets to our hospitals,” said HANYS President Bea Grause. “HANYS appreciates the hard work of all our member auxiliaries and volunteers and their ongoing commitment to the health of all New Yorkers.”

ELIH’s award was presented for a healthcare facility with 100 beds or fewer; John T. Mather Memorial Auxiliary in Port Jefferson received the award for facilities with more than 100 beds.
